Quakers and Peace: Then and Now
Sunday, 22. September 2019 - 15:30 to 17:00
Wilmslow Quaker Meeting House, Bourne Street, SK9 5HD
For Quaker Week 2019 whose theme is "Quaker Stories", Wilmslow Meeting is putting on a short session called "Quakers and Peace: Then and Now". Fuller details will follow, but we hope Friends will put the date, time and venue into their diaries.
There will be a quick journey from Margaret Fell, through Friends Testimony to Peace during WW1, Greenham Common, CND etc and up-to-date to the Arms Fair on Faith Day in London on 3rd September.
During the afternoon we will hear from some of those Friends from East Cheshire AM who witnessed in Worship at the Excel Centre and what motivated them, what the experience meant to them and where it might take them.
The session is open to all and it is hoped that non-Quakers will come along from other Churches, neighbours and those who might just be curious about our Peace stance and Testimony.
