Welcome to Stockport Meeting!
We meet each Sunday at 10:30am.
All are welcome, anytime. We meet for about an hour, and afterwards we have coffee and tea and an informal chat. If you like, you can just come and join us for that bit.
We have a loop system, an accessible toilet, and the meetinghouse is wheelchair accessible.
We have a separate website, http://www.stockportmeetinghouse.org.uk where you can learn more about our new meetinghouse, which is available for hire.
Stockport Meeting has various activities in addition to our weekly Meeting for Worship.
Most months we have a business meeting around midday, on the first Sunday of the month. This is held as a meeting for worship, in which we discern the way for the Meeting to move forward.
A distant healing meeting is held, usually on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, in the Friends Room at the Meeting House. The group holds in the light those for whom they have a concern. If there is an individual, a family, or a situation you would like mentioned, please contact Joan Armstrong.
During a Contact Healing meeting, which is usually held on the 3rd Sunday of the month, after Meeting for Worship, we share healing with each other.
Since 2000, we have had an annual long weekend at Great Hucklow, in the Peak District. Friends from other meetings, and other friends join us for these weekends.
Other activities include discussions, learning sessions, walks, bus trips, meals together and craft sessions.
Children and adults from Stockport Meeting also participate in area, regional, national and international Quaker gatherings, and attend courses at Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre in Birmingham, at Friends House in London, and at Swarthmoor Hall in Ulverston.
